五年前，离开M2M的Marit Larsen选择了留在挪威继续追寻音乐。她在这期间开始尝试不同音乐，钢琴口琴，电吉他，歌词创作和歌曲制作。06年初，带着对音乐的执迷，她重新回到自己的舞台，推出首张单飞专辑Under The Surface。而这期间，没有过多的商业宣传，没有和Marion Raven一样走当时主流的pop-rock，Marit Larsen仍然保留着在M2M时的清澈，也在这一年，新专辑带给她MTV欧洲音乐大奖最佳挪威艺人，Spellemannprisen最佳女歌手和最佳音乐MV两项大奖。
