范吉利斯本名Evangelos Odyssey Papathanassiou，1943年3月29日出生于希腊.无论如何，只要谈起电子音乐，都不能不提范吉利斯(Vangelis)。这位才艺卓越的键盘器乐手，是近30年来影响力最广泛的电子合成器专家。范吉利斯与迪米斯•罗索斯组成“爱神之子”合唱团崭露头角，1968年希腊政局动荡时他辗转到了法国巴黎，开始为电影和电视创作配乐。1973年，范吉利斯为罗西夫执导的电影《动物启示录》写的配乐使他名躁一时，而后他不时往返于英、法两国之间，并在伦敦建立了自己的录音室，以此为根据地大展拳脚。
